...A Little More Wet Paint on a Wood Elf Treeman!

Here is another mini that I need some help with... a Wood Elf Treeman!  This was (again) one of the originals I posted up on this blog not really expecting much from Cool Mini or Not, and he has remained one of the high scoring minis on the sight!

Here is the link to the original post along with the link to him at Cool Mini or Not!

I really liked this mini when I came across it, and thought it would be a fantastic treeman blocker for Blood Bowl!  So I picked it up, and pieced it together and painted it up!  Really like the overall effect of how it turned out! :D

Do go to Cool Mini or Not and vote on him! Thanks!

Wonder, Wit, and a Little Wet Paint!

Wanted to 'pause' for a few moments and say "thanks" to all of you out there who have posted comments, and continue to make blogging such a rewarding experience!  I remember the first time I heard about it (years ago) and thought to myself, "what's the big deal?"  Well... it is a certainly rewarding to have a place where I can share a little tiny sliver of myself with others, and have folks respond in such a kind way, so again, many thanks!

The one thing that I was not expecting, and I suppose has brought a bit of wonder to me, is how many there are out there who thoroughly enjoy the miniature world of collecting, painting, war-gaming and the like!  It has always been a passion of mine ever since I was a kid, and was a little frustrated (and even a bit perturbed) by the negativity surrounding it in the early 80's and even a bit in the early 90's... my, how faaaaar culture as changed!

I don't know that I have anything terribly witty to share other than the fact that I have found this hobby of ours to be "beautifully simple, and simply beautiful!"

Regarding the wet paint; well, all I can say is it has been very rewarding thus far cutting my teeth into a very dynamic and challenging industry, and I am still a bit 'wet behind the ears' so-to-speak working as a pro-painter.  But my brush always has paint on it, and I always have a project I am working on, which is incredibly rewarding!

Having said that, if ya'll (there is my southern! :D) wouldn't mind giving me my last little boost over a small hump, I would greatly appreciate it!  In order to get ranked at:
...which facilitates other professional achievements, I am just shy of getting an official ranking, and I could really use your help!

Over the next few days, I will be reposting six posts/pics that I need just a few more votes on; if you would be so kind as to take just a couple of seconds and vote (provided you haven't already) it would be most appreciated!

The first, is a post that is dated November 10th (Happy Birthday to my beloved Marine Corps!) regarding a trophy that was brought back from a competition in Virginia...

Here is the pic on the post, which is also a picture of the miniatures that I am asking for a vote on at Cool Mini or Not!

I am just a few votes shy of getting it officially ranked... thank you so much for your taking the time to look, and vote!

Holly Jolly Woodies!

With Christmas so close, and with such an amazing Blood Bowl Wood Elf team that I ran across awhile back, I have to introduce you all to Dave from Laughing Ferret Studios!  No way I could go into the Christmas Season, without letting you all know about his awesome miniature painting skills and tremendous Blood Bowl teams!  More specifically... his Christmas Wood Elves (No, it is not for a lack of pics like it was last time! *wink*)

I fell in love with Dave's work long before we connected through a mutual friend, and since that time, have actually exchanged emails back and forth regarding this particular team; it is (in his words) "...one of [his] favorites!" So, here they are...
The Christmas Wood Elves!

I think you will have to agree, what a tremendously FUN themed Blood Bowl Team!  One of the other coaches in my league decided that it would be a blast to have a themed Wood Elf team for each season of the year, and upon sharing that with Dave he emailed me back, informing me to 'thank' her for "the idea, now I'm thinking of finding miniatures for 4 wood elf teams, all the same and doing a spring, summer, autumn, winter version of each! I may not be able to get that idea out of my head!"

Well, Dave... if you ever do decide to pursue it, please do share with the rest of us!
For those of you that haven't met Dave at Laughing Ferret Studios, do check out his amazing work, and more specifically... his incredible Blood  Bowl Teams!

Merry Christmas!!!

Little Beauties

These little beauties are the Wood Elf Wardancers that everyone complains about! They start out with: block, dodge, and leap! VERY nasty combination!  These little ladies were the two star players of the Wood Elf team that took first in that painting competition in VA last weekend!
(Tell me what you think by leaving a comment or voting at Cool Mini or Not!)

Here are the Wood Elf Catchers that were also part of that team... they come to your roster with: catch, dodge, and sprint!  So toss them the ball and they can potentially scoot for eleven spaces!! Almost a one-turn-touchdown! Yikes!!!
(Catch 'em at Cool Mini or Not!)

HardWood Ware!

I haven't been able to post since last Thursday (...and for good reason!), as I was knee-deep in preparation for the 2nd Annual SPR Bacon Wrapped Blood Bowl Tournament!  I had some miniatures to finish painting, rosters to prepare, along with trip plans, etc.  These events are always great fun, and because it was a NAF sanctioned tournament, I was even more excited than usual!  (I will post pics of the event later)  There were about thirty coaches there, many of whom I have gotten to know over the past couple of years, and really enjoy just the interaction and camaraderie associated with these types of events!

My purpose in posting today is that I did bring back some hardware from the event!
*Ta-da!*
The trophy for the "Best Painted" award was given this smartly painted wood elf team of mine, which put on quite a show at the tournament! (See the little trophy! Yay!!!)
Thanks to FTW Games for hosting the event! Big thanks to Jeremiah and Mike of the Stony Point Refugee Blood Bowl League for managing the event! And also thanks to the Endless Gaming Blood Bowl League for their support continued support! Thanks to all of you who support my blog, and painting!
(Give these guys a boost by going to Cool Mini or Not and voting! :D)

Blood Bowl Jordell Freshbreeze

This is Jordell Freshbreesze, Wood Elf Wardancer Star Player for Elf Blood Bowl teams produced by GW clear back in the mid 90's!  Love the dynamic pose!  There is an entire Wood Elf team that will be forthcoming on here... just need to catch up on some finishing touches for them, and then I will post them all!  (Yes, the Treeman blocker is part of this motley crew!)
(Please go to Cool Mini or Not to vote on the Coolness factor of this guy!)

Blood Bowl Treeman Blocker

Here is the treeman as promised!  There are a number of things I like about this mini: 1) He actually looks like a tree+man! 2) He is fists are up like he is ready to do some serious damage! 3) the vines, and rocks at his base give the feeling of being in the forest... all-in-all a GREAT mini to be used as a treeman blocker on a Blood Bowl Wood Elf team!!!

Blood Bowl Treeman

This is a treeman I had sitting in my closet for almost three years before I got around to assembly, basing, and painting him!  One of the best treemen I have ever seen for a Wood Elf or Halfling Blood Bowl team! My apologies for the impromptu pic... I will get a better one posted at a later date!
